Yesterday’s Movies is the fruition of an idea I had during my first year of renting movies. I realized I was using my rental service primarily for movies I’d never seen before. Many of them I had opinions about, and meanwhile I was looking for an internet-based project I could commit to.

Every movie you see reviewed at Yesterday’s Movies will be a film I’ve never seen before, and decided I wanted to. My interests are varied, but you can expect a lot of comedy and science fiction. I also have a tendency to go for movies of the 80s and 90s, since I didn’t see many new movies growing up, and looking back I see several I’d like to.

Another criterion for my choices is that they are old enough that nobody’s pushing them on you, but are easily found. This means nothing in theaters and no new releases, but also means no imported foreign films or obscure out of print films. This site is about recommending films to my readers, so I need to select films that most people should be able to find as a rental or at their local library.

Readers should feel free to make suggestions of films to review. If they meet my criteria and look interesting to me, I’ll make every effort to get a copy, and you’ll get a credit in the article.
